Owner's Comments

We have owned this condo since 1977. In December, 2006, we completely refurnished the unit and it is very efficient. The kitchen has all new appliances and is fully equipped (full-size stove, refer with ice maker, micro and dishwasher) with granite countertops, eating bar and table/chairs. Floors are tiled throughout. The bedroom is the BEST: king size bed with lots of storage and comfort. The view is spectacular! Prince Kuhio Park is directly next door so you don't have to look at another building but a well kept park and ocean views. We are across the street from snorkeling, surfing, swimming with the turtles and occasional whale watching. The building has a fabulous tropical garden with koi pond and a swimming pool tucked away in the palms and private. There is an on-site BBQ area with picnic tables and on-site laundry facilities. Very good value. Car washing facilities are located near the garbage/recycle area.

We had stayed in Poipu at the condos across the road last time we were here. Due to the value of the Canadian dollar, this condo fell into our price range. Since we loved the location with its proximity to a great snorkelling beach, we picked this condo. We were absolutely delighted with our choice. You can still see and hear the ocean. There is no a/c, but you don't need it. The breeze blows quite strongly and kept the place comfortable. Combined with one of the quietest ceiling fans we've ever had, we were able to sleep well with the sound of the waves. The kitchen is very well equipped...lots of pots, dishes, cutlery. Nicely updated. There are spices available for use. There is lots of storage in the bedroom and bathroom. It's nicely decorated, with a tropical feel. There are beach chairs, an umbrella, boogie boards, and a cooler. Really didn't miss anything. The only problem we had was with the shower...it was a conundrum to us to get going. There is a BBQ area and a nice pool, which the complex across the road didn't have. We much preferred this one. There is a restaurant across the road, but it is pricey. There is also a snorkel rental place there. You can walk to the blowhole, about 1/2 hour each way. The shopping mall, with more restaurants and a Wednesday farmers market is about a 15 minute walk. We really felt at home here. I don't believe there is an elevator, this condo was on the 3rd floor, so you need to be able to do stairs.

My husband (Jeff) and I arrived home yesterday, after spending two wonderful weeks on Kauai---the first week being at Prince Kuhio #301. I wanted to let you know how very impressed and delighted we were with the condo. The unit was impeccably clean, not a bit of dirt, not even in the corners! We never saw any sugar-ants or any other 'critters' we've seen in previous condos we've stayed in on Maui and the Big Island. We loved the décor and new t.v. The kitchen was gorgeous, and someone obviously thought of everything that might be needed---from a coffee bean grinder to Tupperware containers for leftovers. There were some condiments left in the refrigerator and much-appreciated items such as cooking oil and sugar on hand. We have stayed in several condos over the years, but that kitchen beat them all! J

It was especially "brought home" to us when we went on to our 2nd week's condo up in Princeville, where the only thing I had to cook with were a few pots and pans and corroded salt & pepper (and an utterly empty refrigerator). Granted, it had remarkable ocean views out every window, but we decided our view of the ocean/park from Prince Kuhio completely satisfied that "criteria" (plus, it was kind of entertaining to watch what people were up to down on the street).

We have decided that in the future when we visit Kauai, we'll spend the entire two weeks in Poipu, hopefully in the same place. Thanks so much for your part (and the cleaning crew, and the condo owners') in making our vacation a memorable one. I miss the sound of the surf and rooster crowing already!
